Online Associate Nursing Degrees
A variety of educational paths are available for online associate degrees in nursing, as well as hybrid programs that include an in-person component. You can gain foundation skills and basic training in programs for the Associate Degree in Nursing, the ADN, or the Associate of Science in Nursing, the ASN. Other options include these:
- The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, or AASN, degree focuses on a technical, vocational nursing education. This approach may be more technical than an AS degree, or the difference may simply be in terminology from school to school.
- Associate Degree Registered Nurse, or ADRN, programs are another common choice for online associate degrees in nursing. The ADRN at some schools is designed for licensed practical nurses and other health care professionals.
- The Associate Degree in Nursing for Licensed Practical Nurses is for practicing professionals. Some programs allow LPNs to test out of courses, allowing skilled, working nurses to save time and money on coursework that would cover familiar material.
- There is also a path leading from an associate degree to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the ADN-to-BSN program.
