Online College Degree Sets Stage for Career Advancement

You're at a turning point in your career, and know that a college degree can help you advance in many fields. It seems that many employers require a college degree, whatever the subject. A degree in general studies can help you qualify for these positions. It covers a wide range of subject matter that provides a good foundation for the workplace and/or further study. Due to advances in online education programs, it's now possible to earn your college degree entirely online.

Online Education Programs Offer Accredited College Degrees
Many traditional colleges and universities, as well as new institutions specializing in online degree programs, offer degrees in diverse subjects such as business, education, and general studies. If you are undecided about your career path, a general studies degree can provide experience in many subjects you may not have considered.

Typically, a general studies degree covers topics such as basic composition, college-level math, arts, humanities and social and cultural sciences. You will also complete elective courses in areas of interest to you. If you've already completed some college work, you may be able to transfer credits to your online program. Check with your school's admissions or academic advising office. A key point in selecting an online degree program is to make sure your school is accredited. General Studies Degree Provides Interdisciplinary Study
Many employers require a college degree to qualify for employment, but the required degree does not have to be specifically associated with the job. Typically, job descriptions state specific requirements, along with a phrase such as "or equivalent experience." A general studies degree combined with your work experience can help you qualify for jobs that require a college degree, but not in a particular subject. If you want to enhance your current career, or find a new one, an online college degree can be your first step toward success.
