Can having your e-mail box inundated with annoying spam be enough to take you over the edge? It was enough and more for this California computer programming professional turned Internet vigilante who is now charged with making terroristic threats.

From anthrax to ice picks, computer programming professional Charles Booher has taken his anti-spam message to the physical level. After receiving a variety of unwanted mails from a Canadian based company, Booher sent a series of threatening e-mails to the president of DM Contact Management. Apparently, the president of the company believed that Booher was not a computer programming professional to mess with, so he contacted California authorities. Now Booher faces a litany of charges and up to 5 years in prison.

Computer Programming Pro Goes Nuts Over Spam

  • We Can Sympathize. Booher complained that his computer had been rendered almost unusable by the barrage of unsolicited e-mails.
  • Now We Know. The computer programming pro said the mails came shortly after he mistakenly downloaded a random program onto his system.
  • Not Worth It. Booher now faces, in addition to jail time, up to $250,000 in fines not including the $75,000 bond he posted for his release.
Computer programming is an exciting career for reasons other than Charles Booher. Computer technology has made the programming field the industry to be in. Here is what the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has to say about the value of online training in computer programming.
