For a successful career in accounting, you need quality career education. A number of online universities offer diplomas and degrees to help aspiring accountants start their careers.

Education a Must
Nearly every job in accounting requires education. Some positions require only certificates or diplomas, while others require four-year degrees or CPA certifications. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that accounting is a growing field, and cites the need for education in order for accounting hopefuls to compete against the growing number of professionals.

New Online Certificate Programs
In response to these increasing job opportunities, many online universities offer accounting certificates that can be earned through a two-year program, allowing online graduates to enter the workforce faster than students in a typical degree program. Online certificate programs also generally come at a lower price than most degree programs, on-campus or online.

Building a Resume in Accounting
Degree programs in accounting are still the best way to build a resume. Degree programs offer the most in-depth practices of fundamental accounting, and many programs even offer CPA preparation in conjunction with on-campus or online courses.

Some online education programs last only 18-24 months, with graduates earning a certificate, diploma, or associate's degree. Bachelor's degrees in accounting are also available online, as well as master's degrees. Online courses are designed for independent learners, many of whom have jobs and families to tend to during the normal class day. They are designed to start careers.
