Sound Engineering Technician
Job Summary: Sound engineering technicians are the persons who record, mix, improve and synchronize sound in sound recording studios. They have to setup, arrange, operate and maintain sound equipment. Sound engineering technicians should place microphones in the best possible place. They should be totally alert and keep observing for any disturbance in sound quality and malfunctioning of microphones etc. They should be able to edit tapes. They should be able to mix sound effects to enhance sound quality. They should be willing to work outdoors and for long hours at a stretch. Sound engineering technicians need to be techno savvy and willing to learn to keep up the pace with new technology. Qualification: A high school diploma is the minimum requirement. Experience is a major factor for growth. Most technicians learn on the job. With experience can grow to become supervisory technicians. Salary Range: Ranges from $25,000 to $100,000. Prospects: Overall prospects for sound engineering technicians are very good. Motion picture industry employs a fair share of sound engineering technicians. With the advent of new technologies like video on demand, demand for sound engineering technicians is bound to grow.
