Mining Engineers, as the name suggests, are responsible for finding and extracting minerals and metals from the earth. The job of mining engineers is to first investigate and find the level of mineral deposits under the ground and consult with geologists to decide on the best course of action (for example devising open pit mines or underground mines). They should prepare plans for tunnels and shafts in underground mines and haulage roads for open pits. They should be proficient with computer-aided design packages. They should implement the plans and take care of all regulations and rules. They should set safety standards and create facilities like first aid and emergency services.

Mining engineers should be willing to work independently and be ready to take on responsibilities. Mining engineers usually work in far off places, so they should be prepared to work in remote areas. Mining engineers should be team players.

Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering is essential.
