Job Summary: People in management plan, direct, or coordinate the operations of companies or public and private sector organizations. Duties and responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources, but are too diverse and general in nature to be classified in any one functional area of management or administration, such as personnel, purchasing, or administrative services. This includes owners and managers who head small business establishments. Qualification: People in management positions usually have a bachelors degree or higher in Business Administration and Management, International Business, or Public Administration. On top of the degree, work experience is required before moving onto a management position. Salary Range: Nationally, the median wage for management professionals is $75,500 annually and ($36.32 per hour). Wages vary by employer and specialty. The number of work experience, training, and responsibility also affect wages. Prospects: Beginning managers start with simple projects. As they gain experience, they advance to working on more difficult projects. Experienced managers may become supervisors. Those who have exceptional skills may become partners in their firms. Some may open their own businesses.
