Dental Hygienist

Job Summary:
Dental hygienists work with the dentist during treatment. They are trained to eliminate deposits from teeth. Their job is to teach patients the benefits of oral hygiene. They should check a persons tooth for diseases or problems. They should be able to perform root canal, remove stains and plaque, administer anesthetics etc. They should be able to fill cavities, remove sutures etc. They should diagnose and prepare laboratory tests for the dentist to interpret and provide proper treatment.

Dental Hygienists are expected to teach proper brushing and flossing methods to patients. They are also required to take X-rays of teeth for better understanding of the problem. Dental hygienists in short assist dentist during treatment.

Qualification:
Dental Hygienists must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited dental hygiene school. A license is required from the state to practice.

Salary Range:
Ranges from $20 to $50 per hour.
