Civil Engineer

Job Summary:
Civil Engineers conceptualize, design and implement the construction of projects like roads, buildings, seaports, airports, commercial complexes, residential projects, water reservoirs, dams etc. They coordinate with government agencies, architects, laborers, suppliers and the like for timely completion of projects as per specifications.

The various divisions of civil engineering are; structural, environmental, geotechnical, water resources, transportation, construction, and urban and community planning.

Qualification:
Minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. A master's in civil engineering will be an added advantage for faster professional growth.

Salary Range:
Ranges from $45,000 to around $75,000.

Prospects:
Due to slowdown in the economy, employment prospects will be below average. As there are no large projects in the pipeline growth will primarily be on residential construction, transportation, maintenance and repair of existing infrastructure.
