Job Summary:
The task of biomedical engineers is mainly to create appliances that help in combating health and medical problems. They do this by fusing engineering with medicine and the biological science. The task of biomedical engineers is to research and develop systems for the betterment of the health of people. They help in creating artificial limbs, organs etc. Some examples of biomedical engineering are ultrasound, x-ray machines, lasers for correcting eye ailments, etc. Some engineers specialize in internal fields like biomechanics.

Qualification:
A bachelor's or master's degree is essential.

The Medical field hires Biomedical engineers the most. This includes the pharmaceutical industry, the medical equipment industry and hospitals. Biomedical engineers nowadays provide independent consultancy services also.

Salary Range:
A fresh bachelor's degree holder can hope to start off around $40,000. Master's degree holders can expect anything above $60,000.

Prospects:
The industry is expected to grow in leaps and bounds. Since technology is the buzzword and more and more health related problems are being solved through the use of technology this industry is expected to grow immensely.
