Bar Tending
Job Summary: Bar tending is an occupation, which involves preparing, mixing, serving, drinks to clients at bars and restaurants. To be a bar tender one has to be at least 18 years of age. One should serve beverages both alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic. One should know how to make cocktails and mocktails and mix the right quantity of ingredients. Should serve drinks with a flourish and keep refilling them as and when required. Should keep glasses on shelves and maintain tables. Additional responsibilities include operating cash counters and receiving payment from customers. Should be willing to work in the evenings. Should be fast in serving. Should be conversant and be people friendly. Should be willing to stand for long hours at a stretch. Should help in maintaining stock of beverages, always be hygiene conscious and help maintain the bar in a nice way. Qualification: Any basic qualification would do as long as you are willing to work and learn at the same time. Initially it would only be serving but with experience you can start mixing drinks as well. Salary Range: Ranges from $10 per hour to $22 per hour plus tips. Prospects: Prospects are very good for bar tenders. Most bar tenders work part time, only a few work full time. They are employed in hotels, bars, food retailers, cafes etc. Since many bar tenders tend to change jobs or quit the profession, the demand for bar tenders is always there. |
