Auditing Clerk Careers

Job Summary:
Auditing clerks perform the entry-level tasks of an auditor. Their job is to check transactions posted by other clerks, verify accuracy and genuineness of transactions by referring to source documents, ensuring arithmetic accuracy, tax compliance etc. They mark all transactions and keep a track of incorrect entries, systemic errors. They advise their findings and recommendations to the auditor for incorporation in the audit report. Usually auditing clerks are budding auditors who are under apprenticeship while pursuing professional qualifications like CPA, CA etc. This gives them the much-required hands on experience.

Qualification:
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Auditing is essential.

Salary Range:
Ranges from $24,000 onwards.

Prospects:
Growth is expected to be lesser than average due to increased automation, centralization of company accounting, and outsourcing overseas to low cost centers. Part time and temporary vacancies abound.
